Working from a studio at her Dorset home, Lesley H Phillips ensures that she puts her heart and soul into every piece of jewellery she makes. Largely using tools and techniques dating back to ancient times (saw, pliers, hammers and fire) many of her designs could never be replicated by machine as they are so intricate. Each piece is imaginatively designed and handmade using a variety of techniques to produce wearable, high quality works of art either in sterling silver or silver with a touch of yellow gold.
Lesley has a definite penchant for the Art Deco era with its contemporary, sleek and clean lines. However, living and working near the Jurassic coast in Dorset, she cannot fail to be inspired by the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
Having studied for a BSC (Hons) degree with Manchester University, it wasn't until she enrolled with a private silversmithing school in Hampshire in 2006 that she knew where her true creative vocation lay. Having always been inspired by fashion, design and all things Art Deco it was a natural progression to start making jewellery and in 2008 Lesley took the final step and built her own studio.
Twice featured in Vogue magazine and winner of numerous awards, Lesley’s equestrian jewellery collection is currently featured in the “War Horse” exhibition at the National Army Museum Chelsea.
